Tony Avila is the founder of Avila Real Estate Capital and a co-founder and Managing Principal of Encore Capital Management, sitting on the Investment Committees of its three funds and apartment REIT ("Rescore"). Mr. Avila has managed over $1 billion in equity and $2 billion in assets under management. He has overseen the acquisition and realization of 20 residential real estate projects on the West Coast. Mr. Avila has originated over $3 billion in real estate loans including $800 million in residential land mortgages over the past year. Mr. Avila is also founder and Chief Executive Officer of Builder Advisor Group, a boutique investment banking firm that focuses on advising residential real estate and land development companies on financial transactions including capital raising, debt restructuring and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to becoming a Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Mr. Avila served as head of Homebuilding Investment Banking at Bank of America Securities from 1998 to 2002. Mr. Avila is a member of the Urban Land Institute and sits on the Community Development Council. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1987. He is an avid marathoner and triathlete and competed in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

Oscar Vasquez is the Chief Operating Officer of Avila Real Estate Capital and Encore Capital Management since 2009, the firm inception. Oscar oversees fund operations and investor relations. He has raised over $1 billion of capital commitments at Encore from 200+ investors. He works with clients both domestic and international supporting their reporting, tax, structuring, and compliance requirements related to their Encore investments. Prior to Encore, Mr. Vasquez led the Management Consulting organization in California for EMC, one of the world’s largest technology companies. In this role he had full operational, profit/loss, and business development responsibility for the unit, and presided over 30% year-on-year growth of revenue. Prior to EMC, he worked for Accenture/Andersen Consulting and Deloitte Touche. He graduated from UC San Diego with BS in Computer Engineering.

Glen is responsible for Encore/Avila’s Asset Management in Northern & Southern California. During his 45-year career in the real estate development and construction industries, Glen Martin has held a variety of executive leadership roles for multiple startup companies and Fortune 100 corporations where his expertise in residential, commercial, and industrial construction helped orchestrate the successful completion of multi-million-dollar projects around the world. As Division President of Standard Pacific and Group President of Toll Brothers, Glen was responsible for directing and managing all high-density and multi-family projects, in addition to all single-family detached and townhomes in Northern California. Glen’s experience with land acquisition and planning, architecture, project and construction management, and quality control are evidenced in the high-end custom homes and multi-family projects he managed in California. As the former Chairman of the California Building Industry Association Codes and Energy Committee, Glen worked with the Building Standards Commission and the Department of Housing and Community Development on a variety of laws and code changes. Glen is a licensed California Building and Engineering Contractor (both A and B). He has was a former board member of HomeAid Northern California, a nonprofit that builds shelter for the homeless, battered women and children, and veterans. He was also the former chair of the board of the Building Standards Institute.

Mike serves Avila Real Estate Capital as General Counsel. He oversees and advises on a wide variety of the legal aspects of our business, including but not limited to overseeing outside counsel, fund compliance, litigation, contract negotiation, and labor and employment issues. Prior to joining AREC/Encore, Mike spent 14years at Righetti Glugoski P.C. where he represented clients in individual and complex, class action litigation. He received his Juris Doctorate from USF School of Law in 2008 and a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from University of California, Berkeley in 2004.  Mike is licensed to practice law in the State of California (SBN #258541).

Patrick serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Avila Real Estate Capital. In this role, he oversees all finance and accounting operations of the company as well as maintaining compliance procedures. Prior to joining AREC, Patrick was an audit partner at BDO for 15 years, a top 6 global accounting firm, where he led audit engagements for private and public companies. Patrick graduated from Virginia Tech with a master’s degree in Accounting and Finance. He is a registered California Certified Public Accountant.

Kevin Van Gorder serves as the Chief Compliance Officer at Avila Real Estate Capital, overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures. Kevin spent the last 15 years as a Vice President, Senior Compliance Officer at PIMCO, a global investment firm. He brings experience in navigating regulatory complexities and cultivating a robust culture of compliance. Kevin holds a Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Zach serves as Vice President at Avila Real Estate Capital. He and his team are responsible for sourcing and evaluating the firm’s investment opportunities, including the preparation of financial models, project valuations, and investment committee memoranda. Zach also serves as the Vice President of Builder Advisor Group, a boutique investment bank that provides advisory services to homebuilder and developer clients across the U.S. Zach has advised on dozens of M&A transactions and more than $2 billion in capital raises. Zach is a member of the Urban Land Institute and sits on the Residential Neighborhood Development Council (RNDC). He graduated Summa Cum Laude from CSU, Chico with a B.S. in Finance and a minor in International Studies. He completed Ironman California in October 2023.  

With over 25 years of experience in the financial industry and capital markets, Nonna spent the last 15 years leading capital formation and investor relations activities in the alternative asset management. Currently, she serves as the Managing Director of Investor Relations at Avila Real Estate Capital, where Nonna is responsible for capital formation activities across active and prospective offerings and manages investor relations with institutional and HNW LPs globally. Prior to her role at Avila Real Estate Capital, Nonna headed Investor Relations and Marketing at Abington Emerson Investments, a Los Angeles-based real estate investment firm. In this role, she successfully raised equity for multiple Opportunity Zone funds and syndicated offerings. Nonna also served as the Director of Investor Relations at Akanthos Capital Management LLC, a relative value Los Angeles based hedge fund. She also has held positions in institutional sales, trading and investment banking at JP Morgan, Banc of America Securities, Swiss Re, and Lehman Brothers. Nonna holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from NYU Stern School of Business.

Anthony Albuquerque serves as Managing Director, Investor Relations at Avila Real Estate Capital, and is responsible for fundraising and investor relations initiatives across active/prospective investments and investment vehicles.  Prior to joining AREC, Anthony spent over 25 years at Glenmede Trust Company, a wealth management firm based in Philadelphia.  As part of the private assets team at Glenmede, Anthony managed more than $300 million of client assets committed across dozens of private equity managers in the real estate and real asset sectors. He was also instrumental in building out the firm’s middle office/administrative functions for the private assets platform, managing the preparation of financial, tax, and other client reporting.

Zachary Reisner serves as Managing Director, Investor Relations at Avila Real Estate Capital, and is responsible for fundraising and investor relations initiatives across active/prospective investments and investment vehicles. Prior to joining Avila Real Estate Capital in 2023, Mr. Reisner worked at RXR, a New York-based firm. At RXR, Mr. Reisner oversaw RXR’s joint venture with middle-market credit platform Hudson Realty Capital and was engaged in all fundraising and product development initiatives related to RXR’s credit platform including fund formation, joint venture and separate account structuring, investor marketing, fundraising execution and investor relations. As a senior member of RXR's fundraising/investor relations team, Mr. Reisner was involved in over $1 billion in capital raised from international and domestic pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and high net worth individuals across fund investments, co-investments and separate accounts. Mr. Reisner worked in tandem with RXR’s Investment Management Group on all credit transactions, including sourcing, structuring, underwriting, closing and capitalizing each transaction. Mr. Reisner holds a Bachelors of Business Administration with a Finance Concentration, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.

As the Vice President of Investor Relations, Andrea is responsible for managing capital formation, marketing, communications, and relationships at Avila Real Estate Capital. She provides the highest level of service to AREC’s investors that include pension plans, insurance agencies, family offices, endowments, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals across the globe. Prior to joining AREC, she was a Senior Operations Client Service Associate and Marketing Associate at a Wealth Management firm where she helped manage $400M in assets.

On her free time, Andrea volunteers at the National Association of Securities Processionals (NASP) FAST Track and National Association of Investment Companies (NAIC), helping students find the desire to work in the finance industry. In addition, she is a cheer coach at Marin Catholic High School. Andrea earned a BS in Finance from San Jose State University and is a Certified Digital Marketing Professional.

Julian Nan is responsible for acquisitions and asset management in Southern California. Prior to AREC, Julian was the Director of Land Acquisition for Shea Homes, a national residential home builder, and developer. He was responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and negotiating land transactions in Southern California, as well as entitling or repurposing land for residential use. Before Shea Homes, he worked for Pulte Group and KB Home and has collectively acquired 1,100+ residential lots. Julian received his BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Cal Poly Pomona and a Master of Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California.

Mishal is responsible for loan origination and asset management based in Southern California. Prior to AREC, Mishal was the sole Loan Originator for Bolour Associates, where he worked on $160M of closed high yield loans, primarily secured by unentitled land sites. Mishal received his BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Real Estate from Indiana University and a Master of Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California.

David is responsible for asset management and operations in Southern California. Prior to Avila Real Estate Capital, David was a Project Manager for KB Home where he oversaw the development and management of over 900 single-family lots and $100mm in assets for projects in Southern California. Before KB Home, David was a Planner for the City of El Cajon. David earned a BS in Geography with an emphasis in Geographic Information Systems from Cal Poly Pomona and a Masters of City Planning from San Diego State University.

Sam is an Associate for Avila Real Estate Capital,responsible for loan origination and underwriting. Sam also serves as anAssociate at Builder Advisor Group, a boutique investment bank that providesadvisory services to homebuilder and developer clients across the UnitedStates. Prior to joining the team, Sam worked in Corporate Banking at one ofthe largest international banks, managing a portfolio of real estate operators.He holds a Finance degree from the University of British Columbia, Canada.

Ryan is responsible for underwriting and loan origination based in Northern California. Prior to AREC, Ryan interned in the Real Estate group at Fortress Investment Group and spent 2 years at a Real Estate hedge fund, 1Sharpe Capital, where he underwrote over $20 billion worth of short duration loans. Ryan graduated cum laude from Santa Clara University where he was a distinguished member of the Division 1 golf team and received a B.S. in Finance and a minor in Real Estate.

Matthew is a Senior Analyst for Avila Real Estate Capital, responsible for loan origination and underwriting. Matt also serves as a Senior Analyst at Builder Advisor Group, a boutique investment bank that provides advisory services to homebuilder and developer clients across the United States. Prior to joining the team, Matt worked at RSM within their financial due diligence group assisting middle-market private equity firms identify cost savings and synergies. He holds degrees in Finance and Accounting from Oregon State University.

Mitchel is an analyst for Avila Real Estate Capital. Mitch assists the team by conducting analysis and financial modeling for borrower creditworthiness including performance of investments, preparing regular reports. In 2022, Mitch interned for Avila Real Estate Capital, returning as a full-time after graduating Magna Cum Laude from CSU, Chico with a B.S. in Finance.

Hamza serves as the Director of Accounting at Avila Real Estate Capital (“AREC”). In this role, he leads the firm’s financial, tax and regulatory reporting. Prior to joining AREC, Hamza spent 5 years at two growth equity firms in the San Francisco Bay Area, i.e. Spectrum Equity most recently and Parthenon Capital where he was responsible for all aspects of financial reporting and reviewing portfolio company valuations in the technology space. His experience also includes spending more than 6 years in public accounting, most recently as an assurance manager at BDO, a top 6 global accounting firm where he led audit engagements for private investment funds (i.e. private equity and venture capital) and public companies. Hamza graduated from the Ted Rogers School of Management at the Toronto Metropolitan University with a bachelors of commerce in business management, majoring in accounting.

Dave joined Avila Real Estate Capital in 2023 bringing with him 30 years of experience in financial reporting, forecasting, analysis, and systems from a variety of companies including Hewlett Packard, KLA Tencor, Intuit, Exodus Communications, and Lam Research.  At AREC he is the Project Controller overseeing the investment portfolio.  Dave earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the University of California Berkeley and his MBA at the London Business School. Dave is an avid cyclist and triathlete having completed an Ironman triathlon. 

Alex serves as a Senior Manager of Fund Accounting at Avila Real Estate Capital(“AREC”). In this role, he supports the firm’s fund accounting, tax reporting, and regulatory reporting requirements. Prior to joining AREC, Alex spent the majority of his career in public accounting where he was most recently an Audit Manager at BDO, a top 6 global accounting firm, where he led audit engagements for private investment funds (i.e. private equity and venture capital). Alex also spent time with KKR as a Manager in their Fund Controllership Team where he was responsible for quarterly and annual financial reporting as well as other aspects of fund accounting in the real estate credit space. Alex graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in Economics and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Foster School of Business - University of Washington. He is a registered California Certified Public Accountant.

With over 21 years of banking experience, Misty is the Vice President of Loan Servicing for Avila Real Estate Capital. She is responsible for coordinating the closing and servicing of debt fund transactions. Prior to joining, Misty worked with Texas Capital Bank as the Homebuilder and Community Finance Operations Manager focusing on loan closing, funding and booking with a portfolio size ranging from $1.5B to $3.5B. Her primary background focuses exclusively on acquisition, development, and construction lending. 

With over 25 years of experience in the building industry, Stacy Beers has worked closely with homebuilders, architects, developers, suppliers, and general contractors. She is responsible for the firm’s financial records, budgets, project cost analysis, and forecasting. Stacy has been working with the AREC team since 2016. Stacy is also very involved in the California Builder Industry Association.

Ron has been in the building industry for over 45 years in the Bay Area. At Avila Real Estate Capital his responsibilities include building plan review, analysis, advisement and support with contracting documents, work orders, construction schedules, onsite executions, general contractors, and consultants. Prior to joining Avila Real Estate Capital, he worked for both large public and private builders including Standard Pacific Homes, Cal Atlantic Homes, Lennar Homes, and Signature Homes. As a Vice President, Ron was responsible construction processes from the planning process through the final building process to homeowner delivery, while coaching and mentoring teams to perform at their highest level. Ron has his General Contractor Licenses and Qualified SWPP Practitioner, (QSP). Ron enjoys giving back to the community through special construction projects through HomeAid by updating women and children shelters, Teen Challenge, or Without Permission.

Marc Kolber is a highly experienced Construction Project Management Executive with over 28 years in the industry, specializing in innovative land development and real estate projects. At Toll Brothers, he has adeptly managed major reconstruction projects, enhancing company quality control and maintaining tight schedules. His previous roles include leading key initiatives at Duling Construction Management and co-founding Ne Terra Incognita in Kurdistan Iraq, where he oversaw significant construction ventures with multiple International Companies. Marc's career is distinguished by his expertise in project management, cross-cultural negotiation, and client relationship management.

Vincent “Vin” Rover is a 30-year vetted land developer and project manager who has had an instrumental effect on communities throughout the Bay Area and Southern California. Working as a project manager for community-centered developments, Vin has acquired an understanding of land development from the ground up and has learned how each requirement of a project is crucial to its success. His hands-on approach has allowed him to gain skills in many fields including financing, marketing, construction, and negotiation. Vin is a certified CA Contractor A & B, licensed Real Estate Broker, licensed Architect, and certified LEED AP.

Maya Theuer sources and manages residential projects. From entitlement through to Certificate of Occupancy, Maya is responsible for maintaining the schedule, budget, and relationships necessary to see projects through to the finish line. Her focus is on urban infill, suburban-style multifamily in Northern California. Maya graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and is a Board Member of Stanford Professionals in Real Estate (SPIRE). She lectures at the Stanford Graduate School of Business as well as the Cal Berkeley Master's in Real Estate Development program. 

Paige is Chief of Staff for Avila Real Estate Capital and has 10+ years of supporting C-level executives. With a background in public relations and blended experience in hospitality and workplace culture, Paige specializes in creating impactful experiences that foster creativity, promote productivity, and positively affect employee behavior to promote a vibrant company culture and client experience. Paige works closely with the executive team and aids in the development and implementation of company policies, programs, and systems, and efficiently translates and communicates decisions into actionable and measurable activities.

Johna Becerra serves as the Executive Assistant to Glen Martin.  Her well-rounded experience in the building industry represents strong project administration skills, executive support, staff and office management, event coordination and scheduling. She is also heavily involved in the preparation of special reporting, city/county planning documentation, proposals, contracts, and various aspects of our industry.  Johna is an active participant in the Building Industry Association of the Bay Area and proudly sits as the 2024 Chair for Professional Women in Building – Bay Area. 

Jane is responsible for the Southern California team’s market research, underwriting, and administrative tasks. She has been with the company for just under two years and is new to the industry after making a career switch from Cosmetology, which she did while based out of New York City for four years. She received higher education from Otterbein University and was born and raised in the beautiful state of New Hampshire. 

Erica joined Avila Real Estate Capital as a Loan Servicing Specialist in April 2023. She joined our team with nearly 7 years of experience in the financial industry, working in the Homebuilder and Community Finance group at Texas Capital Bank, where she was a Credit Delivery Sr. Analyst. Responsible for loan servicing and maintenance, Erica uses her attention to detail and strong organizational skills to ensure that all documents, signatures and supporting information are complete and in compliance. Erica is passionate about finding innovative ways to transform traditional loan servicing practices to create more efficient and streamlined ways to service our customers.

New to the industry, Macy Bannatyne joined Avila Real Estate Capital as a Junior Loan Servicing Specialist in September 2023.  She will complete her undergraduate degree in Finance at the University of Houston in 2024.  As she navigates the complexities of loan servicing, her passion lies in contributing her skills and financial knowledge to the success of her team. Macy is eager to learn all aspects of the industry and develop her career. 

With over 17 years of experience, Juan Raul Cid serves as the Director of Information Technology of Avila Real Estate Capital. In this role, his responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of Technology and Cyber Security. Prior to joining AREC, Juan was a Sr. Onsite Tech at Abacus Group serving over 10 hedge funds and Real Estate investment firms as their primary Tech. Juan graduated from the Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas (Mexico) with a Bachelor of Technology.

Amy serves as the Office Manager at Avila Real Estate Capital. She is the driving force behind the firm’s seamless office environment and operations. With a flair for efficiency, she has transformed day-to-day management into a finely tuned engine of productivity. Amy's commitment to excellence is reflected in ensuring a smooth workday experience for the entire team.

Silvia relocated from Mexico City to the USA three years ago, residing with her son and parents. She brings over 15 years of comprehensive experience in accounting and operations, specializing in areas such as accounts payable, receivables, and general ledger management. Her professional background includes engagements with companies like De la Paz Costemalle, Tekeda, and Intertek, among others. Silvia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Escuela Bancaria Y Commercial, Ciudad de Mexico.

Peter Scofield has worked in architecture for over 25 years and has been a licensed architect since 2004. Peter has a wide range of experience in many types of projects including retail, parks and recreation, industrial, resident and hospitality. Peter has worked with building officials all over California, Texas, Nevada, and Arizona. Peter has extensive experience in Fire and Life Safety, Accessibility, and Design Review. Peter is a CAD manager and IT consultant with experience in 3D modeling and design.

With over 18 years of experience in residential andmixed-use construction, Blaise’s experience included municipal inspections,third-party quality assurance inspections of mid-rise and single-familyconstruction and administration of building department functions on UnitedStates Federal Property. Blaise has extensive experience with below gradewaterproofing, fire resistance construction and building envelope systems. Hebrings with him a very strong background in forensics, management ofthird-party quality assurance programs, and he has a strong commitment tocustomer service and satisfaction. Blaise is an honorably retired CaliforniaPeace Officer.
